Ever wondered how those guys in the movie 300 got so unbelieveably ripped? Well, they achieved it by being able to do this workout!
The 300 Workout, brought to us by Gerard Butler of Men’s Health Magazine, is an advanced grueling routine that will let you know quickly if you’re a real man or not! Folks, do NOT try this at home unless you are already in great shape.
Ballantyne put together this workout video series for you to follow along with and — provided you’re fit like a king– try for yourself.
“One actor from 300, Andrew Pleavin, completed the workout in 18 minutes,11 seconds,” says Ballantyne. “He didn’t practice this workout…and neither did I. My time? 19:07. My butt was kicked by a Hollywood actor!”
“It’s a brutal workout, starting out strong and slowing down, finishing at a crawl,” explains Ballantyne. “I don’t plan on doing that any time soon or, really, ever again.”
For a Spartan-sized challenge to your daily routine, consider this your new fitness gauntlet:
- Pullups – 25 reps
- Deadlifts with 135lbs – 50 reps
- Pushups – 50 reps
- 24-inch Box jumps – 50 reps
- Floor wipers – 50 reps
- Single-arm Clean-and-Press with 36lbs Kettlebell – 50 reps
- Pullups – 25 reps
Of course, if you haven’t seen the movie yet – do it! It is freakin awesome! Definitely one of my favorites of all time, and here is the 300 Movie Trailer to give you a taste:
20/20 just covered the “ab machine vs diet” discussion of how abs are truly obtained. As Ballantyne points out, it’s about burning fat to show the abs that are already there. It was on Friday’s 20/20 segment of “Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity”. From my own bodybuilding, the lucky number seems to be 10-12% bodyfat. At that point, you start seeing much more definition, especially in the lower abdominal area :)
hehe i feel tired just by watching this guy to these just once :P
I don’t recommend any of it for newcomers to health and fitness training, not by a long shot. For starters, each one of the Hollywood guys had a personal trainer, physiotherapists, doctors, supplements provided free, everything probably catered for.
Anyone out there that sees this and goes off and tries do 50 x 135lbs lifts of any kind is asking for serious injury.
It’s advanced stuff…but you probably all knew that.
HAHA, I actually looked up how they got so ripped. Those guys were the most cut guys I’ve ever seen in a movie. Truly amazing. I’ve got a little work “cut” out for me.
Yeah that workout is just ridiculous. I know people that have tried it (and done it) but not in its complete form. And that is STILL really impressive.
SPARTANS PUSH!!!
One of the best movies in the last year, we went to watch it in the VIP Cinema here, lazyboy chairs and all.
Very good entertainment indeed.
As for doing the workout, I am probably going to raise a couple of beers in stead …
Kim:)
