This is too funny and insane not to post even though it is one of the craziest and most irresponsible things I’ve ever seen kids do when their parents were out of town.
Ron (Marks Jr.?) and his buddies created a 60′ long water slide off the roof of his house with a ramp at the end that flings people 16 feet into a kiddie pool.
Here is the intro description from the video:
For ten days my parents were out of town.
It took seven days of intense labor to complete the construction of what is now known as Ron’s Slip n’ Slide Extravaganza.
Unfortunately I can’t find any definitive information about who these folks are, so if anyone comes up with a homepage please share with the rest of us!
EDIT 9/10/2007: Also check out the 535′ Slip n Slide!
Hello there! I could have sworn I’ve been to this site before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyhow, I’m definitely glad I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking back frequently!
Songs are:
Steppenwolf: Magic Carpet Ride
Creedence Clearwater Revival: Lookin’ Out My Back Door
Pixies: Where is my Mind
I saw the video on my MSN homepage. Wow! I just GOTTA’ know – did his parents have a major freak out when they got home and saw the new renovation the boy(s) made to their house? lol Golly day, I don’t know what my reaction would be to come home to that. No way I’d get on a contraption like that, but they sure used some solid skills in the construction of it – and it looked like they were having an absolute blast. Poo on the neighbors – at least those kids were doing something constructive and recreational with their time … think of the alternatives. Anyway – if you find out what the parental reaction was, I’d just love to know.
I liked it very sound also, voces could say the musical track to me, I am of Brazil.
ron goes to my school in lombar, IL east yeah. the kid in the cast is named dan. the slide is made out of tarps and wood and a garden hose and piping. they used the blue vw bus as a support and the cops were called twice. the neighbors were out watching and there was one injury that closed it down by the cops.
Everyone note that I just also added a link to a 535′ Slip n Slide in the post. It is awesome!

Thanks for that update Chris. If Ron ever gets himself a homepage please let me know and I’ll link to it! :-)

Don’t think there is a homepage for Ron yet (he is my cousin from Illinois), however; the story is true. It was just originally something they came up with together and being that Ron wants to get into the film business they recorded it.
Originally my other cousin who is a cop was sent over to see what the heck they were building. At the time it was not even half the height so no one thought it would be too dangerous ;).
He was on CNN Headline news this weekend.
Ha that was (as other people said) pretty impressive. On the one hand I would get so angry if I had a kid and he did that because he’s risking life and limb. On the other hand I’d be happy that he’s at least learning something in school and not falling asleep!
Wow, that was pretty impressive.. at least the kids were using math and physics :o
We used to jump from the roof, to the trampoline, to the pool, and it was crazy how much potential there was for busted bones along the way..
Ahh.. to be young and invincible again :P
Ok, I haven’t found a whole lot, but, he’s a 19 year old film student, hence the quality of the video – from Chicago.
I did find one TV news interview – http://cbs2chicago.com/video/?id=35187@wbbm.dayport.com
OMG!!! That’s absolutely HYSTERICAL! (Shhh! It looks like so much fun – don’t tell my kids I said it’s hysterical or looks like fun, k??)
I totally missed the part where you said that it was a KIDDIE pool, so upon watching the first boy go down, I freaked OUT when I saw what he was going to be landing in! LOL!
My darn brothers used to jump off my parent’s roof into our in-ground pool! In fact, this summer, when I was in Dallas visiting, my darn brother was conniving to take my own boys (12 & 13) up there with him and show them how to do it! My mom and I got wind of it and gave him our typical flabbergasted-woman-nagging and he hushed up about it.
Only – then he disappeared, next thing we know, there he is on the corner of the roof, about to jump, telling my boys, “Now, boys, when you get right here, you need to..da da da…”
Mother and I again hollered, and he proceeded to jump right in the pool – in front of Mom. Kind of an odd moment – a totally forbidden behavior carried out deliberately with your mama watching!
My brother is an accomplished veterinarian, 39 years old, and still just that sweet, crazy boy that has always been my big brother!
I’m off to peruse the net and see what I can find on these crazy ‘Kiddie Pool Boys’!!
hahahaha niiiiice! They got the distance of the pool correct from the first time which was pretty surprising to me, out of all the riders, only 2 didnt make it to the pool which is a tolerable error rate hehehe nice engineering!
