I remember when I saw the very first Rambo movie, First Blood. Me, and every other teenage boy in America were running around trying to buy $5 Chinese versions of that awesome knife!
You know a guy is going to love a move with lines like these:
Teasle: Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us?
Trautman: You send that many, don’t forget one thing.
Teasle: What?
Trautman: A good supply of body bags.
Well, after First Blood in 1982 (IMDB rating 7.1) we got First Blood Part II in 1985 (IMDB rating 5.3) then Rambo III in 1988 (IMDB rating 4.3), and now – 20 years later we’re gonna see if the old man has still got it in John Rambo aka Rambo 4!
Rambo is recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid delivery to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers.
This one is supposedly due out in Summer 2008, so it will go along nicely on my list of “movies to see” with the new National Treasure. On one hand we’ll have utter blood and guts, and on the other we’ll have a history-mystery! A little something for everyone.
Oh, by the way, this trailer is not for kids. It is the bloodiest most graphically violent movie trailer I’ve ever seen. Rambo literally tears some guys throat out, guts someone with his knife, and fires a 50 calibre machine gun point blank at someone. So, don’t watch it if you get grossed out easily!

I guess they don’t let him take off the T-shirt in that movie so many times, even with steroids.
Looking forward for the movie, the trailer brought me in the right mood to watch some good ‘old’ movies as it is raining outside anyway.
BTW after first blood I also bought a knife…hehe
cheers
Rhoody
And keep in mind folks- Sly got busted by Australian Customs for having steroids on him – just so he could bring you this movie! :)
Hah, just when I was about to reply about how he’s too old and it will never work, I realized I too had one of those plastic knives and after watching a .50 tear through someone, making them literally explode…
I forgot how easy it is to bring back the boy in a grown man.. I’m in!
I know that feeling that’s why I always have notepad open to save my post/comment before I post it. You learn from your mistakes, many mistakes.
Half a movie later now, got restless hehehe…
I kind of found my copy of First Blood on Emule… Naughty Naughty… But I guess not naughtier than buying a pirated DVD down at the market.
Kim:)
And don’t you just love the way he says ‘body bags’ – with that extra bit of emphasis?
My copy of First Blood is VHS, and I no longer have a VCR. :( Might have to send the husband to the pawn shop today to go movie hunting.
I will have to watch it alone, though, as I get a little carried away and ‘help’ the characters say their lines! Ha!
Just wrote a long comment, but got 404 when I hit submit… I am really tired of my ISP already, and I have only been with them for a week since we moved house(because of another ISP)
First Blood is one of Stallones best flicks ever, watched it numerous times.
In fact the 404 I just got turned me off the computer for now… So I think I will go in to the living room and pop on First Blood again …
Kim:)
Looks like it will be fun to watch, but, it won’t be any First Blood. That is one of my all-time favorite movies – growing up I was a hardcore Sly fan – had a bedroom wall devoted to just him. ;) My dad used to like to tease me and call him ‘half-pint’ because he’s so short. It would get my goat every time.
But I so much enjoyed his stealth, tiger-like attacks in First Blood, it was much more ominous and powerful.
This one, although it does look entertaining, is just over-the-top excitement – and that’s just not ‘my Rambo’, you know?
“It wasn’t my war, they drew first blood ‘n not me. They drew first blood.”
What do you think has drawn Mr Stallone back to taking these old action roles? Obviously, both Rocky and Rambo were among the most famous action movies but still…
Why wait almost 20 years before making another sequel?
