God only knows how many quarters the Donkey Kong game stole from me in my youth. But now we have the chance to play the original right here, for free, and with unlimited lives! This of course means that you’ll be able to waste an infinite amount of time, so prepare yourself.
Now, there are three things you need to know:
- The game starts immediately when you load the page. Sorry, but I don’t know how to prevent that – I’m posting it as I’ve found it.
- There is sound, so if you’re at work you might want to turn your speakers down otherwise everyone around you will be coming over to play Donkey Kong.
- You use the arrow keys to move, and spacebar to jump. But I’ve found that you may need to click on the game one time with your mouse before the keys work.
I’m also going to try to find more of these classic games and load them up here on OMB so that I can find them later when I want to play them, so keep an eye out.
I have one and i’m selling it. how do I go about it?
i recently spent an afternoon locating a Comodore 64 Emulator and then the game Defender of the Crown… I remembered spending countless hours playing that so I wanted to try that again… I was very disappointed when I got the thing up running… I wanted to Try Pool of Darkness and Elite as well, but after this disappointment I didnt even bother…
Kim:)
Peter,
I looked for both of those all over the Web, but I can’t find either one anywhere. :-( Sorry to disappoint!
John
Actually, I vote for Elevator Action, closely followed by Dig Dug – now they were a pocket-money draining exercise as a kid.
This is definitely one of those old games that brings up memories. An arcade winner of yesteryear. Although this particular game that you included only has (as previously mentioned) a single level it seems. Oh well, good enough to remember those times!
awwww, its only lvl 1. I beat it and then it just reset :(
I vote for Mrs. Pacman next! ;)
Oh my, I can’t seem to figure out if there’s a pattern to when the barrels go down the ladders versus rolling around the outside. I forgot, in the world of complex 3D current games, just how hard the originals are :/ Nowadays a lot of the web games I play I find by Stumbling by the category: Online Games – some are pretty bad but some are fun!
I still have my NES set up in my loft, along with my Master System. Great memories :)
Hahaha, how high can you get, indeed. Thanks for the 8-bit memories, John!
