I don’t know about you, but when I think of Stevie Wonder, I imagine him with a huge smile on his face, bobbing his head from side to side while singing and playing the piano.
But that’s not all he can do! He also plays the harmonica, congas, drums, bongos, bass guitar, organ, melodica, and clavinet. So, I guess that pretty much makes him a certified musical genius and explains why he’s won just about every musical award on the planet!
Here now is a much younger Stevie Wonder going absolutely nuts with a drum solo.
And here he is much more recently, proving that he’s still got it!
Thanks to Scott Robbin for bringing the original video to my attention.
his the one of my god music.. U think he is the modern bethooven..
Strange … a roommate of mine just coincidentally not only is playing Stevie Wonder downstairs right now but he went to the recent concert in Seattle. He was blown away – said Stevie was very giving and entertaining, and creatively changed a number of classics on the fly as well as encouraging audience participation. I always kind of thought of him kind of like a pop star but he sure does know his stuff and I’ve rarely heard such a glowing review of a concert.
Agree – It’s almost depressing when you realize that many of us have the gift of sight and we can barely make music banging a few trash cans :)
That’s totally awesome! I have to regretfully admit that, although always loving his performances, I never knew he was such an all-around artist, playing so many instruments and getting so many awards! Now I just love him even more! Especially with those drum solos – I just love drums! (Have you seen Stomp? Stomp is an excellent percussion show!!)
Who’s David Gainer?
Still got it? I was much more impressed with the more recent clip.
That’s so crazy and impressive. I am definitely a fan of Stevie Wonder’s music. Are you a big fan or did you just find the video very interesting?
Stevie Wonder, whether you like his music or not, is a music Genius, he has so much influence in the American music industry, and that also means in the world-wide music-entertainment music industry.
I belong to that group of people who would say that most of his 80th and 90th music is elevator-music (but somehow he has to earn money), but I do respect him a lot for his work behind the screens and his achievements in charity-work… Hmmm, the entertainment in the town I live is a Bikini-contest tonight, also not tooooo bad… hehe
Cheers,
Rhoody
