This is an old clip of a study of the effects of LSD on combat troops. It appears to be from around the 1940’s, and I don’t have any clue where it came from originally. But its mildly amusing to see a bunch of highly trained killing machines walking around aimlessly and falling over laughing.
LSD is typically delivered orally, usually on a sugar cube or in some sort of food product, so I’m guessing they were trying to determine how they could weaponize it by contaminating an enemy’s water supply or food supply. One surefire way to win is to make the other side not care if they fight any longer!
Why in the world would the U.S. Military test this potentially harmful substance on our own soldiers? I hope the ones conducting this experiment had the where-with-all to remove the live ammunition from the test subjects.
Anyway, I this experiment may have some merit to it. I’ve always wondered why weaponized intoxicants (like something along the lines of LSD or another controlled substance) have been used in conflict resolution like wars, domestic disturbances, or hostage situations. Just a thought.
I Googled it and found info pointing to 1953-1954. The film quality made me think it was from the 1940s, not the 1960s.

I THINK THE POSTER OF THIS VIDEO IS A LITTLE OFF ON THEIR ASSESMENT OF WHEN IT WAS PRODUCED.1940’S ,NO WAY,POSSIBLY LATE 1950’S BUT MORE THAN LIKELY EARLY 60’S.NONE THE LESS STILL A GREAT WAY TO GO THRU BOOTCAMP.
Yeah, Kim is right… they got caught by Akismet for no good reason at all. I don’t know why it stops some posts and then lets others through from the same exact author. It’s just a freakin mystery! Anyway, they are up now! :-)
I was a little slow in getting these cleared because I’ve got some super secret projects going on right now. I may have a few announcements coming up in the next couple of weeks… so stay tuned. :-)

Sometimes comments are caught in the spam filter, but John(The Man never sleeps) is good at finding real comments in there and bring them back up. Check back in a day or 2 and they are probably back.
Kim:)
damnit, my post don’t stay the first time :((
I’ve made 2 nice replies and lost both.
oh well,, nice video, hope you make another post with several more from the 70’s
great clip John, I know there are several of these documented videos form the 70’s floating around, hopefully you make another post with a larger collection. :)
Jason, thats ok, but many don’t need “love drugs” for that…hehe… sorry I know its not political correct. ( BTW, in the philippines is a word, and it means “I am confused”, if you are in the south, but in the north “I am horny”),
cheers to all and have a great week

Yeah, that’s good point — a way to end a war is to make people stop wanting to fight. I think U.S. and U.K. governments have also tested so called “love drugs” before which make the soldiers want to have sex… with each other? No serious. Google it.
Nah, they said it was given before each day’s exercises…
Reading your intro, I was quite intrigued to see the video, but, then I noticed – it was actually during the war? Seriously? That’s crazy! Or was that all part of the mock-up?
Still was pretty funny, though – I love the guy climbing up the tree – that rocks!! Hahaha!
John, this is an amazing historical document. Actually I was not only mildly amused. some of our politicians should try the same. Put them into a big room give them some stuff and let them watch the simpsons movie. I am sure if they do any decisions under this circumstances, they are not worse than their sober decisions.
cheers and a great weekend
