Layered Technologies Announces New CEO!

Here is some exciting breaking news! My former boss, and head honcho over at SAVVIS Communications, Jack Finlayson just took on the role of CEO and Chairman at Layered Technologies, a good sized Web hosting company that also happens to host WordPress – which as we all know is the software I use to run One Man’s Blog!

Folks, this is pretty amazing because Jack is a $Billion company CEO, and he chose to go to Layered Tech. I believe the reason is that one of this companies specialties lies in Grid Computing, which in essense takes a giant farm of computers, straps them together, and sells you as much or little of the power as you need. Kind of the same philosophy as a utility company. You plug in, use what you need, and only pay for that much.

Former President and COO of SAVVIS to Lead Global Provider of On-Demand Hosting and Utility Computing Solutions

PLANO, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Board of Directors of Layered Technologies, Inc., a leading global provider of on-demand hosting and utility computing solutions, today announced the appointment of Mr. John (Jack) Finlayson as Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. Mr. Finlayson was also elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Michael Platner, co-founder of Layered Technologies and CEO since the inception in 2004, will continue as a board member and become Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Finlayson, 52, recently served as a Director for Layered Technologies and a consultant with the Company for Enhanced Equity Fund LP. Previously, Mr. Finlayson served for 6 1/2 years as President and COO of SAVVIS Communications, Inc. where he was an integral part of the SAVVIS IPO, the integration of Cable and Wireless America and the overall significant profitable growth of the SAVVIS business. Prior to SAVVIS, Finlayson held the positions of SVP at Global Crossing Inc. and Corporate VP and GM for the Americas and Asia Wireless Infrastructure Group at Motorola. Finlayson also held multiple executive positions in marketing, management and sales at AT&T.
