The Chaser’s War on Everything – The Secret

John P.

December 1, 2007 By John P.

The SecretHoly crap. Has anyone heard of the film / book called The Secret? I hadn’t, but after watching this funny little video I feel fully informed.

After reading through the massive Wikipedia entry on The Secret, you’ll learn it:

…uses a documentary format to present the “Law of Attraction.” This law is the “secret” that, according to the tagline, “has traveled through centuries to reach you.” The film features short dramatized experiences and interviews of a team of personal transformation specialists, spiritual messengers, feng shui masters, and moneymaking experts.

Well, I’m glad they didn’t forget the moneymaking experts!

When you think of something you want. And focus on it with all of your attention, the Law of Attraction will give you what you want every time.

Yeah, whatever… I don’t think that worked out so well for John Hinckley and his obsession with Jodi Foster…

Anyway, here is a fantastic rant put on by a couple of guys out of Australia on a show called The Chaser’s War on Everything.

Awesome John :) I too loved the car scene!

I understand optimism and faith helps, but only to a limit.. You still need a goal and a path.

It’s like blogging for dollars.. there’s a lot of work that comes into play and you truly need a plan before you’re going to be getting big checks in the mail.

That video really made ma laugh. Especially the art with “the old pedophile”.
I agree with Evelyn. Positive thoughts can bring you better life, but they can’t bring you a new car or a bike (except if your rich grandpa sees thousand of pictures you drew of a bike and then actually buys you one) :)

I laughed so hard when they smashed the cars – and then I watched it again! Loved it! Very funny take on this whole visualizing phenomenon!!

That video is too funny! But, yes, I did hear about the book and the movie, and I read the book and watched the movie. My thoughts on it are that at the basis of it all; your thoughts are very powerful, and they can either make or break you. I believe that being a positive thinker can bring more happiness and success in your life; and vice versa if you are a negative thinker. Also being more loving in your life will give you more peace and contentment. As far as monetary success; I believe you are either lucky, very smart and know how to apply it, or are someone who is frugal and knows how to save and invest well.
As far as spirituality and higher consciousness, I believe each of us is on our own path and will know the “secret” at their own level of understanding.

I’ve seen that book, but I never knew that was what it was about. Frankly it sounds pretty ridiculous after watching that video. But at least the video was very amusing!
