Mitch Hedberg – Serious Comedian

Logo of One Man's Blog displayed on a computer monitor. Mitch Hedberg was one of my favorite comedians. He had a really dry sense of humor and was absolutely brilliant when it came to one liners. For example:

I like escalators because an escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You’ll never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.

Both his jokes, and his delivery are unique and he cracked me up. Unfortunately he died in 2005 (of a drug overdose), so we won’t be getting any more of his comedic genius.

These two videos are from a special that was recorded for Comedy Central. I’m sure they are in violation of some sort of terms on YouTube, so don’t be surprised if they don’t stay up long. In the meantime, enjoy them while they are around!

  5. I never saw this guy, but very funny, kind of like Lynard Skynard doing comedy. I always liked situational comedy, as in Seinfeld, and the master George Carlin.

  6. He definitely does not sound like other comedians that I’ve heard. I think that it might be because he sounds somewhat like someone who just smoked some weed. Nonetheless, he’s pretty funny.

    “I was in a casino, I was standing by the door, and a security guard came over and said “You’re gonna have to move. You’re blocking the fire exit.” As though if there was a fire, I wasn’t gonna run. If you’re flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit…

    Nothing sadder than a real funnyman dying. Him and Richard Jeni come to mind every once and a while. I’m not the type to “miss” people I never knew but it’s hard to not feel a connection to people who make us laugh.
