Oh hadn’t even seen this. So this is quite belated, but congratulations. It’s always good to be wanted, I’m sure!
Congrats on the outstanding news. You will do great!
Well all I can say, if this is a labor of love for you, you must do very well indeed when you work for others. The work involved at OMB is impressive in itself.
Will they leave you any time to keep up the good work with OMB?
Nice tie by the way.
Wow, that’s a really big deal. Good things happen to people who help others. You have helped a lot of people (pay it forward) and now it’s your turn. Ok, that was philosophical, I’m sure you worked your ass off and earned it big guy. Congrats.
Hello John,
I may be interested in promoting affiliate program if I am convinced that It is going to converge.
I am currently promoting dreamhost, they give us a promo code that I make my site visitors use it. I am one of their premium affiliates. I would really like to take a look to your company affiliate, if it is attractive and there is a chance to get convergence, I will consider it.
I feel the easiest way for me to make convergence is coupons. Since users do a search for the company coupons directly, and I can utilize my SEM/SEO skills to rank for that keyword and get visitors. But if the affiliate without coupons, it gets harder to converge.. Then i need to bid on generic hosting keywords, which really hard…
I hope you get my point regarding coupons and affiliate marketing..
Good luck…
First of all, thanks to everyone for the congrats. It’s a lot of responsibility and a lot of hard work, but I’m going to do everything I can to ensure that I meet my obligations to my new colleagues at work while also continuing to maintain my blog.
Now, I must point out that my family must have been really happy to see me get off my lazy butt and go back to work because my brother and both of my sister-in-laws all dropped comments here! And that was the first time any two of them ever commented on the same article, much less all three of them!
Now – for those of you wanting to get some hosting over at Layered tech, unfortunately we don’t have an “OMB Reader” discount. I don’t think our investors would quite appreciate the relationship as much as I do. However, it’s always good to know someone high up in the company in case you ever have problems, and I’ll definitely alway be happy to help serve your needs in any way I can!
Oh, and PS – in a few days we’re going to be rolling out a brand new Affiliate program, so if you want to help me out and also make some money for referring people who purchase our services, I’d be really pleased to sign you all up!
Thanks again,
John
Lisa,
What a couple of the guys commenting here aren’t telling you is that they used to work with me, and they KNOW how much I hate suits and ties.
I did pose for this photo because we needed head-shots of the execs at work, but luckily I don’t have to wear a suit unless I’m visiting with a client. We’re strictly business casual!
As far as how my job will affect OMB… well, I’ve actually been working there in stealth mode for almost 3 months now, so if you guys haven’t noticed yet then hopefully that is a good sign that be blog hasn’t degraded too noticeably yet. Though I must say that the added burden of working has left me writing the blog at very odd hours and severely cut into my down time.
But that’s Ok! There will be plenty of time for sleeping when I’m dead! Until then we’ll keep on rockin’.
John
When I read here (http://dallas.wordcamp.org/attendees/) your name and beside it the company name, I did expect that you will announce that you started a new company… thats just yesterday…
Any way, congratulations..
P.S: I am looking forward to receive discounts on their dedicated servers, I am not looking for 10% or 20%, I am looking for far higher :), otherwise I would stay using my shared hosting at dreamhost…
Good Luck!
Adi
Great stuff John,
Hope it does not effect “our” favourite OMB that much, as I guess they might keep you busy for some hours.
cheers
Rhoody
Congrats John :)
Now can I have a discount on my 2 servers there? :)
Kim:)
Congrats John… We’re proud of you!
Congrats John… Smart move for Layered Tech!
Congrats! Nice suit!
Congrats! Akin to Lisa’s comment, curious how this will affect OMB?
Haha! That’s a good one – the picture definitely struck me as a ‘different John’ than we’re used to around here!! :)
Do you have to wear that thing every day?
Very exciting, John – congratulations!
Are you going to encourage them to blog on their own domain?
Congrats John….So what cost Layered Tech more? Getting you out of retirement or getting you to pose for a picture in a suit?
Congrats John!
Hats off, congratulations John :)
Congratulations!
