Very interesting… This video (which is less than a week old and has been viewed almost 1.5 million times) was produced by a reporter for the English version of Al Jazeera, and was taken from interviews at a McCain / Palin conference in “a small town in” Ohio.
I say that right up front because some people are going to claim that this is not a reputable news source, and that perhaps this footage is even fake.
On the other hand, it seems pretty legitimate to me, and echos what I’ve been saying all along. Namely, that like it or not – Barack Obama is the next President of the United States… unless he get shot.
Here are a few of the choice comments made in the video by these good people from Ohio:
“I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?â€
“When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.â€
“He seems like a sheep – or a wolf in sheep’s clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin – she’s filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she’s gonna bring honesty and integrity to the White House.â€
“He’s related to a known terrorist, for one.â€
“He is friends with a terrorist of this country!â€
“He must support terrorists! You know, uh, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.â€
“Just the whole, Muslim thing, and everything, and everybody’s still kinda – a lot of people have forgotten about 9/11, but… I dunno, it’s just kinda… a little unnerving.â€
“Obama and his wife, I’m concerned that they could be anti-white. That he might hide that.â€
“I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash… because we’re not!â€
Two words, jibbs. Community College. If somebody feels bad enough for you.
It just proves the civil war is still not over, hopefully when Obama is inaugurated, it will be the closing chapter of racism in America.
The sad thing about politics is that people who are ordinarily decent, friendly people suddenly become extremist, hateful, and close minded. This is not exclusive to one party or the other. Extremes on both ends are to blame and there are plenty of examples on both sides. Our political party system is set up to cater to the extremes on either side while reasonable people in the middle are marginalized. It is frustrating and I don’t know the answer. I agree with Chris Jean above about the comments that people make and the gossipy emails that get passed on without checking to see if there is any truth to them. I just keep deleting them, but it makes me sad that elections bring out the absolute worst in people. If you want to start an email campaign, why not send out truths like what you like or disagree with in someone’s platform? Even “Family Guy” got into it by putting a McCain/Palin pin on the Nazi uniform that Stewie was wearing. Where is the rational thinking? Alas, it is all gone.
Tom,
Originally I was going to write that you and I are going to have to disagree about Jibbs’ comment, but then I decided that couldn’t be true. I decided that you honestly didn’t get what he was saying.
This blog post is about dirty, out and out, racism in America. I didn’t make it up. I didn’t provide political commentary. And I’m no fan of Al Jazeera. The video shows people who are so uneducated that they honestly do not know the facts (Obama is NOT a muslim, he’s NOT related to a terrorist, etc.) and who have no intention to learn because they only focus on the color of his skin.
Jibbs failed to acknowledge the fact that there are absolutely racist comments made by these people, and instead chose to support his/her position by making it all about me essentially being a race-traitor. Indeed, turning the conversation into an attack on me because I’m a white man is something, in my opinion, only a racist would do. I will never be ashamed that I am white, or that I’m a man, or that I’ve been successful.
Now, moving on to your latter comments…
I’m shocked that you would now think of me as an “elitist” who thinks I’m superior to anyone else, just because I don’t give a crap what color anyone is. My own personal family (parents / siblings) contains white people, Black people, and Asian people. I have very close friends of all colors and creeds. So, the fact that I’m color-blind is simply not something I believe can be used as a weapon.
Additionally, I can disagree with you and still respect you and value your opinion. So why would you personaly label me an “elitist”? You don’t know how I think, or anything really about me personally – only what I let you see on this public blog. And in all this time you’ve been reading my blog and participating in it, you’ve never once seen me issue a post or a comment that takes race into account. You’ve seen me argue principles – regardless of whom I’m arguing with. White, black, christian, muslem, rich, poor, smart, young, old.
Finally, for the record, I am not a “Democrat”. Neither am I a “Republican”. And also as a reminder, I am 100% US citizen and a former US Marine who was willing to sacrifice myself for the freedoms we enjoy in this nation. No one can question my patriotism. During this particular election process I’ve done quite a bit of analysis and I’ve shared it all. The fact that I’ve been impressed with Obama has nothing to do with a party. For me it’s simple comparative analysis.
As for wealth:
I’m done with this thread now. I find it amusing that all I did was pass along a report on racism and ended up being personally attacked. This is probably just evidence of how far we have to go.
Oh, whose kidding who? We’re all going to kill each other long before we tolerate each other.
John P.
That’s one of your worst comments ever, John. The guy was pointing out that many Blacks and Mexican Americans will support a candidate just because of their common ancestry and you call him a Nazi, nice! The Democrats play on this having candidates change their names to aid the cause, just ask Loretta Bixley…ooops I mean vote for Loretta Sanchez. The fact is that whites will vote less on race in this election than other groups.
Your post shows you to be a wanna be elitist, superior to your fellow whites by showing your enlightened cast down look upon those poor old white folks that were edited so nicely by your Al Jazeera buddies. Nice job associating not voting for Barry Hussain Obama with being racist.
I still can’t figure out how rich folks like you can align with the Democrats, you must have a good or “good” tax accountant.
jibbs what are you talking about? You’re just rabble rousing by throwing out random thoughts without any support. If you’re going to talk about politics refrain from ad hominem and straw man logical fallacies.
Your arrogance shall dig you deeper, your certainty shall be the venom that overcomes you.
One of the many reasons why one shouldn’t say their political affiliation if they write a blog, cuz now John you got everybody on your ass
Ok there Mr. One-Man-Blog and alleged CEO, I can not wait until Obama’s jackbooted socialist thugs, knock on the door of your supposed business, socialise it, and reduce your salary to that of the dude pushing Slurpees down at the 7-Eleven. After all, we must “spread the wealth”….let’s start with you.
Or perhaps (speculation of course), Mr. One-Man-Blog prefers to no longer provide health insurance to his employees, so he touts the party of socialised medicine, for his own selfish gains? A Democratic victory could save Mr. One-Man-Blog plenty of cash. And of course, being the good touchy-feelie liberal that is Mr. OMB, he will, I am sure that he will donate the windfall to the local food pantry. LOL, yeah after he buys a new motorcycle…and you Dems call the opposition party …pigs?…LOl Go read some more propaganda on DailyKos…LOL.
How about putting YOUR tax 2007 return for public display on your blog. How much money did your luxe lifestyle keep away from the unproductive sows sucking on the teat of the public trough? Just how much of your own cash did YOU contribute to charity? We all would love to see if “put your money where your mouth is”. Or do you just wish to re-distribute the hard earned wealth of others…take from the productive and dole it to the lazy. The Democratic Party way.
Playing the “race-card”, and dealing it from the bottom of the deck as the “One” and yourself have chosen to do is the dirtiest, nastiest, kind of gutter politics. But totally expected from those of your ilk.
Hypocrites.
Go ahead and vote for your Messiah…then double padlock the door to your plush corner office. The first people they will come for are the white guilty libs. Look in the mirror, dude.
Of course, It is your wish that I unsubscribe to your blog, people of your ilk always like to stifle dissent. But dammit, I won’t. It’s my prerogative. Freedom.
Of course, it is also your prerogative to purge me from you list. In fact I expect that you will. Opposition can be like an unreachable itch, huh? That is your freedom to censor
….and if current polls are correct…we will be losing a lot of freedom, come late Janurary 2009. So sad ;-(
I think anyone who votes for either candidate based on skin color is totally clueless. Furthermore although I am not surpised that people like this still exist I am taken aback by actually seeing it. If I were McCain I wouldn’t even want people like this voting for me, their ignorance is comical.
Jibbs,
Yes. There is something very, very wrong with “supporting one’s race”, unless by doing so you are referring to the Human race.
Race should have no bearing in the choice for a new President. Only qualifications. I don’t care what blacks, Chinese, Mexicans, Martians or anyone else is doing – or why. Supporting McCain because he’s white is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.
If you are a subscriber to my blog, I welcome you to unsubscribe so you may cease being nauseated and then kindly kiss my white ass. We don’t need any Nazi’s here. You may want to check in at ZeigHeil.org.
Cheers!
John P.
Nothing wrong with one supporting one’s own race, is there? After all Blacks are supporting Obama and their own race, overwhelmingly, somewhere around 90%. It’s just to bad that you, Mr. One Man Blog, can’t do the same, but apparently your white, upper middle class guilt won’t let you. Don’t be ashamed, dude, stand up for your own race. Those who suck on the teat of the public trough, certainly won’t.
Your incessant, and thinly disguised shilling for the democrat party is nauseating.
I am assuming that Juan is posting “tongue in cheek”. If not then I hate to burst your ASCII bubble but based on the oldest manuscripts the correct mark of the devil is 616 (which is also the area code for Grand Rapids, MI hmm). As you may not know, Luke and most of the other books of the Bible were written in Greek and not Hebrew so the word used of the devil is satanas and lightning is astrape.
To get back on topic though, assuming the video is real and not scripted or edited, it shows how sad people can be when they turn their insecurities and biases into core values (religious or otherwise). To be fair, I am sure we can get similar nuts at political rallies across the US regardless of candidate. These rallies seem to drive the most radical of each party to show up and foster the worst rhetoric.
I certainly hope that the previous commenter was trying to be tongue-in-cheek humorous. If he was, he failed miserably.
I am sick and tired of irrelevant, irrational arguments against one candidate or another. Unfortunately, large portions of any populace too often don’t think the validity of a claim through or don’t bother to try to see if such a claim is relevant or true. I can’t say that such people are unintelligent, there have been many bigots with extremely high levels of intelligence. What I can say is that many people, such as those in the video, have let their prejudices, culture, and resistance to change hold them back and give them a persona that much of the rest of the world easily sees and interprets as ignorant.
“Barack is a terrorist”, “Barack is a Muslim”, “Barack took an oath on the Qur’an”, “Barack is related to Osama bin Laden”, and on and on. Now add on top of such ridiculous, unsubstantiated claims irrational religious zealotry that bases prophecy off of convenient combination of ASCII codes? Yes, I remember that passage of scripture: “The intent of their heart shall be revealed in code, and that code shall be called ASCII (mind you only use capital letters less you never see the true mark).” To quote John Stossel: “Give me a break.”
To be open and transparent, I am not a Barack Obama supporter. Even so, I wish people would drop the meaningless drivel when they speak against a candidate that they don’t like. Even if Barack were a Muslim, ever took an oath on a Qur’an, or had every letter in his name somehow equate exactly to 666, I would think no differently of him than I do now.
So does BABE and I don’t think you should fear him :)
Hi,
I stumbled upon something really disturbing today. I was looking at the standard computer ASCII table and saw that BARACK OBAMA is represented by the following ASCII decimal numbers B=66, A=65, R=82, A=65, C=67, K=75, O=79, B=66, A=65, M=77, A=65. If you string the numbers together, you will see that 666 appears in both his first and last name.
B A R A C K O B A M A
666582656775 7966657765
Is this what Rev 13:16-18 has warned us about? And what about Luke 10:18, where Jesus says Satan is like lightning, and lightning translated from Hebrew is “barak”.
I think we have been warned many times.
