Amazing Jump Rope Performances

John P.

November 6, 2008 By John P.

Jumping RopeToday I was feeling especially lazy. I thought about excercising… for about a minute. Then, since I knew I wasn’t going to actually do it I decided to do a little browsing on the Intertubes and find out what kind of activity other people were engaging in.

It didn’t take long before I decided that jumping rope was the way to go – if I were going to actually do exercise. Which I’m not. But luckily for us, these folks are jumping rope like crazy!

Here the USA Jump Rope All Stars performed after the 2006 US Trials near Boulder, Colorado.

Here’s a team believed to be from Hong Kong:

Here is a fantastic Japanese team:

Of course, I saved the best for last. Jump roping dogs.

By the way, if all of this interests you, you might want to check out the movie Jump!

Although I confess that I had to bail on the American video early (it was causing a strange oscillating rattle in my speakers) I was thoroughly impressed by the Hong Kong team video. Their skillset was truly incredible, and I really enjoyed the transitions between segments in the video when they went from Location A to Location B with the “jumper” being shown in the same exact position in each locale during the transition.

The stylistic differences between the Hong Kong and Japanese clips also appeared to be substantial. The Hong Kong video looked to me to be more like a half time routine while the Japanese clip reminded me of hip-hop dancing.

    Keep up the great work!

i get exhausted just WATCHING all this carrying on!

i was looking forward to seeing the dogs, but it seems that youtube took that video down. i hope that the dogs weren’t treated too harshly in being taught to jump rope.
