Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word: WordCamp San Francisco 2009

John P.

July 7, 2009 By John P.

Matt-Mullenweg-State-of-the-WordFor those of you who didn’t see them I’m going to begin posting the WordCamp San Francisco 2009 videos here on the blog. I went to WordCamp again this year to film the speakers and as usual a great time was had by all.

This first video is Matt Mullenweg’s traditional State of the Word presentation in which he covered all the latest official updates regarding WordPress including a little history, the current status, and even future plans. It’s a “do not miss” video for anyone using WordPress.

This video was filmed by Dave Curlee and myself, and the genius editing was done by Michael Pick.

I think the biggest announcement in this video is that WordPress and WordPress MU (WPMU) are merging, allowing WordPress to be installed once and run multiple blogs. Another cool feature to come is realtime posting of comments, so new comments will be revealed without the reader having to reload the screen—just like a chat room.

Are you using VideoPress to publish this video? I noticed that Matt talked about it. This video is great quality.

Great video. The history of WordPress is interesting. The discussion of new features and improvements to come is exciting.
