How to Invite ALL Facebook Friends to a Group, Event or Page

I set up a couple of groups on Facebook – our Wealth Nation group (PLEASE JOIN!) and the Stop the Farmville Madness!!! group – and wanted to invite all my friends, but it would have taken an eternity because for some strange reason Facebook doesn’t allow you to “select all” friends when sending an invite. I mean, they’ll let you do it… but only if you click one at a time! Uugh.

Well anyway I went on a little search and found that you could cheat the Facebook system by inserting a little javascript to make it happen! Here is how to do it:


  1. Go to your Facebook Event, Facebook Group or Facebook page and click “Invite People”.
  2. Once the page has loaded you should see all of your friends, but they are not selected.
  3. At this point, copy and paste the javascript code below into your Web browser’s address bar, then hit “Enter”.
  4. If all goes well, it selects all of your friends!
  5. IMPORTANT: NOW YOU MUST WAIT!!! If you have a lot of Facebook friends, you have to leave that window open for a long time so it sends all of the invitations! I have about 1,400 and it took like 15-20 minutes to send all of the invitations. The Invite window will close when its done. So exercise patience!!!!!!!!!!

If that first method doesn’t work for you give this a try:

Right click the “friend box” and open it in a new tab:
Then paste this ==> javascript: fs.select_all()


Finally, there is now a GreaseMonkey script for Firefox to Invite All Facebook Friends if you want to try that as well..

Oh, and by the way, if you found this helpful please tweet it or share it on Facebook to help others find it too. The more people who share it, the more people it helps! It takes some time for all of the Facebook invites to be sent. They go into a queue. So if you saw them all get selected, just be patient. The messages WILL get delivered over the next 24 hours or so.


UPDATE

If none of that is working for you, Michael Quale developed a little Chrome plugin which I personally tested and it did the trick. You can get it on the Chrome browser store here. And here is a little video of it working.

Again, that one is only for Chrome users, but I highly recommend that everyone use Chrome anyway…

  6. It does work, open the suggest frds, right click it n “open frame in a new tab” so the suggest frds opens in a new tab, paste the code der… it works ;)

    It WORKS and it’s FAST!

  9. It does not work now. They have probably disabled this option in order to prevent spam. So sad… But can someone please come up with a new code or some other way to do this?

  10. The sort java script code worked great for me in google chrome. Just make sure you open your friend box up in a new window and then paste the code into it.

    javascript: fs.select_all()

  26. Click “Suggest to friends” on application profile page or “Invite to friends” on group, fan page or events page.Right click on any friend and click “open in new tab”.You will land on a page which will only show suggestion window
    At this point, paste the following code on to the address bar where the suggestion window is displaying: javascript:fs.select_all();
    And you’re done :)

      1. That worked flawlessly. Both the Chrome “toggle all” and that javascript trick works well. I assume they are limiting the select all feature as spammers use it to their advantage?

  27. Code doesn’t work. Does not invite everyone. Leaves out hundreds, sometimes thousands of friends. Need new code!!!

  37. Please make a new code for Fan Pages and Events invites… I can’t click 2000 times every time I put one of my artists online and need to start the promo!

    I wish Facebook would make some kind of Admin priveledges for heavy users of Facebook.

  40. I have been using the code for awhile now. And it has been working perfectly, until about a week ago I believe. Do you think facebook has stopped the use of the code?

    1. The extensions only allow us to select 32 friends at a time… any reason why??? All friends don’t show.. When we click on toggle all, only 32 friends get selected and others are not highlighted…

    2. What you do is… you open the suggest a friend box…. then… right click in the box…and then click open in new window…then enter the code…

  52. Hey, both codes don’t work now. (Tested with Chrome and Firefox on Ubuntu 9.1) I am in the hope that someone finds a new code. I look forward it! Regards.

  54. if it doesn’t work, blame this blogger for letting it out to the world and asking folks to share it on facebook. This code has around on the web for over a years until this dude blew it out weeks ago. Facebook killed it when everyone wants to take credit for sharing with friends on Facebook platform..

    1. no need to blame anyone.. no one did anything.. this was not a hack code.. face book offered a ALL feature but for some reason it didnt work on profiles with so many people.. this was simply a javascript code not a hack code.. face book changed their format not to avoid this code.. this code has been out for 2 years.. face book just did a update and that cause this code to not work.. there will be a new code.. give it time..

  55. Guys stop trying, non of the above scripts will ever work again, its official that FB prevented their job, so stop wasting your time trying on all internet browsers you have, don’t waste your time trying waste it on manually selecting friends ;)
    good still 600 friends to go for me (i’m selecting friends to join my page in the manual way)

  60. As of 8/27/2010 this is no longer working with firefox nor internet explorer. The second script seems to be trying to work but I believe it is grabbing content from the main frame instead of the invite friends frame. Could somebody find a new script that still works? Facebook probably patched this one.

  61. i tried both scripts with Internet Explore, Firefox, Chrome, Opera…. Non of them works while inviting friends to the group!

    1. hi leruffo, are you sure? today 8.24.2010 it doesn’t work. i tried it, it only selects all friends, but there are no invites sent! i am sure… because my freelance work is sending invites to people fanpages… yesterday is ok, but today is a bad day for me!

      by the way, what browser u are using?

  73. Cool!!! It worked, you so rock my world. I have been doing invites with one click at a time for years! Yay!!!!

    PS. The first one jammed up my browser too but the second one is the one that worked on both of my pages.

  80. You can make a bokmark, then put this javascript code into the space where URL goes, and place it on toolbar, or anywhere you want, then when you have the friends window open, just push the bookmark, and it will select all

    I try it on Safari on my macbook pro.

    Its successfull to select all 3500 of my friends.
    and I succes click sent invitation.
    but dont know if it sent cause after I click sent
    the loading pop up is so looong. and not dissapearing.
    maybe cause i select to much?

  96. It no longer works, unless I am doing something wrong, it worked for me a few months ago but I am thinking the Elitist that own facebook have stopped this from working in the recent past! not happy at that at all :(

  97. The second one works! The first one jammed my browser (tried it three times, all with the same result).

    1. Small correction: while it indeed selected all my friends and told me that the invitations were sent, no action actually occurred (I opened the invitation window and all the names were in regular font, as opposed to pale gray). I have over 1,700 people in my contact list, and this is a fan page suggestion (not an event invitation), so perhaps at least one of those two played a role in the failure.

  98. Used the script once and worked great. Today i keep getting “Error on Page” mesage at the bottom of the screen. Are there know issues?

  99. What a relief when you have 5,000 friends to click one by one by one by one. It actually worked. Yeahhh!!!
