While I was doing it I figured some other people might experience this need, so I made a little video to show you how simple the solution is. All you need is this kit: Datacomm 50-3332-WH-KIT Flat Panel TV Cable Organizer Kit (White)
TUTORIAL: How To Run TV Power Cables Through Your Wall

Up at the office we had a TV that we wanted to mount on the wall in the reception area. Only problem is, the power plug is down at the bottom of the wall and we really didn’t want cables hanging down the wall looking all messy. So the solution was to route the cable through the wall.
Dont do this, this is against every fire code I have heard of. Only cable rated for inwall should be put in the wall!!! This is extra important for AC power. Get the power bridge or pay an electrician.
Really what is the chance a tv cable is going to catch fire? And if it does catch fire, it going to catch fire in or outside of the wall. You must be looking for business.
I think the worry is that if you did have an issue, even if it was unrelated to the wire in the wall most insurance companies would deny your claim because you broke code
Wow, so simple. I wish I could do that in my house in NZ. However, NZ houses with stud walls have (at least) one row of horizontal noggins between the upper half and bottom half of the gib (i.e. sheetrock) wall. So, as well as the stud you have these little horizontal pieces of wood between the studs. That makes dropping the cables really hard.
Where do people get these ideas, its hilarious!
we did it a little different: We got a blank plate w/ a small hole & a generic wall mount. Then ran it down. Top hole was “raw” with a little tape to keep it clean. Total cost was only $5 and I found what I needed at the local home center.
