Shooting a Silenced Smith & Wesson Handgun – the Assassin’s Tool of Choice!

John P.

February 11, 2015 By John P.

Next time you’re watching a movie and you see someone pull out a gun and screw on a silencer, check to see if it sounds like THIS. Because yesterday Dhiren and I were out shooting this .22 calibre Smith & Wesson M&P22 with an Advanced Armament Corporation Pilot 2 .22LR Silencer.

The thing to note is that I’m wearing NO ear protection! This little handgun was LOUD without the silencer on it. But once it was installed, it basically sounded like a spring action BB gun.

This is a nice firearm for beginners or just for target practice, because its light, quiet, relatively accurate, and the ammo is the cheapest stuff you can get! So you can go to a shooting range and just sit there all day practicing.

BTW, what you’re witnessing in this video is my first time to ever fire the weapon. So don’t give me any grief about missing a few of the tiny little targets. ;-)

Now some of you are going to ask how we managed to get a silencer! Well, in Texas the process is pretty grueling. First of all, that ranch we are at is the home of John Shewchuk from Maple Leaf Firearms. He’s a licensed firearm dealer, so he can get access to all kinds of crazy stuff.

But back to the story. John is able to order suppressors for normal citizens, but you have to go through not only a background check, but also some sort of a crazy certification type process that takes 4-6 months! Yeah, I actually purchased a couple of these suppressors, but I won’t be able to actually get them for like half a year!

So the good news is – you can get them, but not just ANYONE can get them. If you want to know more, just ask John over on his Facebook page at the link above.
