Joys of an eBook from a Reader’s Perspective

    August 3, 2015 By ann

Ebooks are a new phenomenon relative to the act of reading in general, presenting readers with the opportunity to enjoy their favorite texts, both fiction and nonfiction, in an entirely electronic format, foregoing the need for traditional books.

This technology has been widely adopted by readers around the world; while traditional books are still very much a daily presence in many of our lives, the ongoing troubles of traditional bookstores and the increasing dominance of ebook sellers like Amazon show just how popular ebooks have become.

Whether readers indulge in ebooks for their ability to be packed en masse onto a single device, or they like the ability to indulge in their favorite extended information websites while they read, the consumption of ebooks represents a growing trend that shows no signs of letting up.

Here are five of the joys of an ebook from a reader’s perspective:

    1. No Turning Pages

While some book lovers have had a difficult time adapting to ebooks due to the loss of paper in their hands, there’s something to be said for the ease of swiping or clicking a single button in order to go onto the next page.

Had enough of licking your fingertips in order to continue on with your favorite novel? You’re in luck.

Whether they’re consumed on a traditional ebook reader, a full-fledged tablet, or even a smartphone, an ebook’s digital format allows it to be perused without the need to handle any extra material at all, a major bonus for readers who prefer the words in front of them to the ambiance created by reading a paperback.

    2. Many Books, One Piece of Hardware

Joys of an Ebook from a Reader’s Perspective

Probably the most exciting benefit of reading ebooks as opposed to traditional books is the fact that a reader can host hundreds, even thousands of titles on a single device, allowing them to take all of their favorite titles with them everywhere that they go, and with ease.

As any avid reader knows all too well, sometimes a single book simply doesn’t cut it; from bouncing from novel to novel, or keeping books from several genres and niches on the go at a single time, the resulting load of paper books can prove to be a hindrance while on the go. Of course, even a standard e-reader solves this problem immediately.

Making matters in this area even more interesting is the fact that storage space in ebook compatible devices is growing with each new wave of e-readers, tablets, and smartphones released, allowing the average reader to hold their entire book collection on a single device, and with room to spare.

    3. Bookmarking and Backtracking

Whether the book in question is fiction or nonfiction, readers – especially those particularly fond of the pastime – are prone to backtrack and bookmark extensively, allowing them to highlight favorite passages and take their own footnotes for further reading. While this makes for charmingly dog-eared and noted books, the sheer lack of organization can be enough to make any book lover crazy.

This is another place where ebooks excel, giving readers the ability to take notes, bookmark, move back and forth, and even highlight important passages with ease, all on a digital screen. Most e-readers and ebook reading software easily allow for unlimited bookmarks and notes, leaving readers to take notes to their heart’s content.

    4. Environmentally Friendly

In an age where the loss of forests around the world is but one issue in a complicated web of environmentally dangerous practices, the simple act of indulging in an ebook allows even avid readers to enjoy one of their favorite activities while also resting easy with the peace of mind that comes with making green decisions about how they function as a consumer.

    5. The Online Experience

While the possibilities of linking ebooks to the web at large is still being explored, many electronic titles (i.e take advantage of the fact that they are often being read on web-connected devices, giving readers the ability to click links within text that allows them to enjoy extended content, do further research, and much more, creating an entirely new and enhanced experience.

Here are just a few examples of what I am talking about: A variety of digital guides and store on the topic of your preference!

i think you missed the best benefit of all. Choosing the best and most readable font and font size for you and having all books conform to that format.
