I wouldn’t say that this artist’s style particularly appeals to me, but I will say that the level of talent and creativity involved do.
In 10 minutes Janez Jevnikar can take a piece of canvas and create a unique piece of artwork that is pretty darn interesting. There is a great level of skill here and a lot of practice as well.
Just because it uses spraypaint does not make it graffiti.
Graffiti, by definition is the illegal application of a medium to a surface, and in a more modern context graffiti art is the stylized painting of lettering and characters using spray paint on walls, either legally or illegally….this, what you have shown,..is kitschy street craft aimed at tourists and sold around the world for about 5-10 dollars a piece. It represents a methodical use of spraypaint and that is its only redeeming factor, as it completely lacks any original creative thought.
