The video clip below is from a 1987 match in Czechoslovakia between Canada and Russia. It started off just like any other hockey fight, but soon escallated into a situation where all of the players on the ice were going at it.
As if that weren’t bad enough, both benches cleared and eventually every player on each side was fighting a player on the other team. Heck, even the two goalies were going at it with one another!
Frankly, this is just unbelievably awesome, and even though it meant the end of the game – I’d have paid good money to see this!
Well, that is pretty cool… but I wouldn’t call it much of a fight. The guy basically falls over the glass into the box and then a bunch of people step in to break it up.
That video above however has about 50 people going at it for 5 minutes straight! :-)
That is great but this has to be my favorite http://youtube.com/watch?v=8m3OGP_eDa0&mode=related&search=
Essentially, Tie Domi (one of the toughest fighters in the NHL) is in the penalty box and is tired of hearing smack from a fan behind him. He sprays his water bottle at the fan who in his (drunken?) anger decides he can do what few people with twice the muscle mass of him can do and that is take on Tie Domi one on one. He of course is not wearing any pads. I wonder if he ever considered that this might not have been a very good idea?
