R2D2 Wrapped USPS Box – The Coolest Mailbox Ever!

John P.

September 23, 2007 By John P.

R2D2 MailboxThis weekend while roaming around Minneapolis, MN on vacation (a complete review later) I came across the following R2D2 wrapped official USPS mailbox.

All I have to say is… Awesome! (Make sure and select the image for a full sized version!)

I later learned that these mailboxes are to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars, and they have only recently begun appearing so I was quite lucky to capture this one.

    Hi Guys,

that is graet, I wonder if there is a statistic about stolen or damaged R2D2, I can imagine that there are quite some “fans” out there who wanna have one in their TV room

    cheers

I live & work downtown. I’ll have to go check to see if it’s still there.

Aw, man! Those are definitely cool – I love R2D2!! I can’t believe I missed them downtown, that stinks – but, since procreating, I haven’t spent much time downtown either. I’d head out now to take the kids to go see them…and then maybe to the fountains – except that I happen to be stuck in Alabama! LOL!!

Cool! I don’t spend much time downtown being up in Frisco and all… Do you live locally, or were you visiting?

We were downtown when we saw this. I would say we were about 1/2 mile from the downtown Target store at the time.

I carried a GPS with me the entire time, and later I’ll download and geo-code all of the photos, so I’ll be able to give the exact location of every single image I took all day. And by my count that was over 500!

Keep an eye out for the best of those…

And we are going to try to get over to the Mill area today and the waterfront. So much to do as this is a surprisingly great city!

So of course I have to ask: where in Minneapolis were you? :) Glad you made your way beyond The Mall regardless ;) If you hit the downtown area be sure to check out the Guthrie Theater and the Mill Museum right next door!

These have been around for quite a while. I first saw one this past spring on Main Street in Downtown Dallas near the Metropolitan.
