If you have a Generac Generator which fails to start during a power outage and gives an Error Code 1518 – RPM Sense Loss you can try and manually get the generator restarted very simply.
- First, press the Red STOP button on the panel, FOLLOWED BY ENTER!!! You have to hit Enter afterwards.
- Next, press the Green AUTO button. The generator should wait 5 seconds and then try and auto-start up to 3 times.
Here is a little video that shows basically the same thing for one of the 20kw Generac Generators – or similar.
For me, the generator fired right up. I was told by a technician that this can be due to a sensor that tends to get a little rust on it, and they will send someone out to take a look at it after the event is over.
