According to CNN, who is quoting Netcraft – the Neilson’s of the Internet world – the Web just topped the 100 million domain name marker.
Additionally, Time Magazine says that Technorati is claiming that 100,000 new blogs are created each day with over 1.3 million posts added daily.
There are approximately 4,000 blogs which have at least 500 other blogs linking to them.
It’s funny… when I founded HTMLHelp.com over a decade ago to help teach the world how to properly author Web sites I could have never guessed at the scale we’re talking about here. I might have gone out on a limb and estimated that there would be 1,000,000 web sites in 10 years, but never could have guess it would be a hundred times greater.
Interestingly, since we started HTMLHelp.com we’ve had around 100 million page views of our content.
By the way, since my Blog is only a few months old I’m not yet one of those 4,000 that have 500 other sites linking to me. :-) If you enjoy reading my daily musings I would very much appreciate it if you helped me spread the word. It would be a nice holiday season for me if I could double my subscriber base by the end of the year!
