Folks, I was at Dave and Busters in Frisco, Texas and saw these two guys going to town on this dancing video game! I think it was called Dance, Dance, Revolution… but I could be wrong.
Anyway, just check out these two little clips I took with my crappy cell phone video camera. (Hey, they’re better than nothing!) My question is, how much money do you think you have to spend to get this good at dancing on a video game? And the follow up question is, do you think the chicks dig it?
They’ve had this in the arcade in my local bowling alley for a few years now. I wouldn’t be caught dead on one lol but it seems to attract the younger generation. You can get a ‘Dance Mat’ game for the Xbox if you’re shy about doing it in public. Sounds like a good game to play if there’s a few of you round on a Friday night have a drink. No doubt there’ll be a verison out for the Wii soon as well. :)
I’m just surprised this is the first time you’ve seen this game. It originally came out in 1998 and was big in the US from 1999 through 2006. In the last couple years it has fallen in popularity to other rhythm games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but there are still die hards out there.
I guess they have the “home” version of it.
There is also a V-game like that with drums, guitar, bass. I saw that in a shopping mall and you can play like a band. The people really love it and there was always a big crowd watching

Yeah, same here Peggy. No way would I ever be let loose in public to dance!
John, did you get any funny looks videoing it?
I have one of these at home, hooks up to our playstation. It is a lot of fun and great excersize. My kids are better than I am but I practice on it sometimes and it is one of the most fun things to do. There are levels that you can do to get better and better. They have beginner, lite, standard, and challenging. I recommend everyone should have one. Fabulous excersize!!!
That game rocks – it’s so much fun! I, too, saw some people doing it at an arcade (Richardson Square Mall) and just loved it! Then I got to researching and apparently a LOT of people have lost a LOT of weight doing it, so my sweet hubby went and got me an Xbox, the DDR game, and one of the nicer dance mats….and this is the part where I ….*hang my head in shame*
I almost never do it. Need to fix that!
The people I saw were using their arms, too – it was a trip – I’m not sure how that works, though. I mean, I know you can’t do that with the ‘home’ versions, but, it was really cool to see.
Money – lots. Me being a chick (old, fat, and married, but, a chick, nonetheless) do I dig it when guys are really good at it? Heck yeah!
That’s like asking, how much money did that guy spend to become a great paintball player, or how much money did that guy spend on his boat and fishing equipment to become a great fisherman…and do the chicks dig it?
Everybody has “their thing” (or at least I hope they do)
What your “thing”, and did you do it for the chicks (or did you do it because you love doing it).
I like the flip move the guy did in the first video. That’s gotta come in handy with the chicks somewhere.
