Folks here is one that I’m sure is going to disappear soon, so watch the video while you can because it’s bound to be violating copyright!
Comedian Louis CK appeared on the Late Show with Conan O’Brian, and he got off on a tangent explaining what is wrong with the latest generation. To say that he thinks the youth now days are spoiled is a serious understatement!
It is hill-arious! Have a look…
I remember that old rotary wall phone by the stove. Talk about an abject lack of privacy. Oh, and the phone wasn’t something you BUY. It was LOANED to you by Ma Bell. Did you know when I was a kid, there was the introduction of something on TV called channel 100. To get this channel, you needed a new technology called cable. Then you needed a special box to convert the stuff coming from the CABLE into TV stuff! So, channel 100 played MOVIES without any COMMERCIALS. That’s right! Movies without commercials. Channel 100 later was re-branded as HBO. Don’t get me started about this AMAZING new entertainment device called the Atari.
So, yeah, I really appreciate all this. It is amazing. The stuff we are seeing come out of science labs is beyond anything I could even dream about 30 years ago.
It sure does spot some true fact of today’s life on earth. To add to what Aaron Hall said I’d like to share a little of my experience. When I was a kid on a Sunday afternoon my father asked if I wanted to see where he was working. So we took our bicycles and were off to dad’s workplace. He made me bicycle for about 10 miles. I was exhausted and I hated him for making me going so far. I think he noticed that and helped on the way back home. I’m know he made this on purpose now. For my first job I remember I was doing easily 10 miles everyday to get there.
To get there is today pain. Everything is easy, so, efforts are assimilated to ungrateful, unbearable pain.
But the truth is, it is not pain. It is stamina.
Eh…he does raise some good points. Fortunately (or not) I can’t relate to the air travel ones, because I am generally passed out during that time. We had a dial phone when I was a kid, but it was more of a novelty at that point than a necessity.
OMG, that is the funniest darn thing EVER!!!! I’m laughing so hard! Used to hate people with ZEROS in their phone number? YES!!!!
Listen, here’s a little confession – (about which this guy just made me feel GREAT!) When I was a kid growing up, flying became pretty humdrum. We didn’t fly that often as a family, but, enough that it escaped the realm of greatness for me. I’m sure my first flight was either incredibly scary or incredibly awesome, though. As an adult, I have RARELY flown – three times, I think. Three times in about 20 years.
And let me tell you – that first time back on the plane, I was like a kid on a roller coaster for the first time! It was hysterical and embarrassing!!! I had SO MUCH FUN on the takeoff that I just couldn’t contain my joy and excitement! Here I was, a grown woman….freaking the HECK out over taking off in a plane! I laugh every time I think about it!
This is a great video and I think can maybe put all of us in our place, a little. Did me, anyway. ;)
Louis CK is such an awesome guy. One of the best comedians right now in my opinion! Spot on!
Geez, that did hit some nerves….I think that pretty much every older generation hgas felt like this about the youth, however, the decline in kids IQ levels, along with their really narcisstic outlook and actions do spell danger for the future.
I saw this a week or so ago and must have played it half a dozen times and have laughed my ass off every time.
My favorite part is “We live in an amazing, amazing world now and its wasted on crappiest generation of just spoiled idiots that don’t care.” It is so true! I’m now showing this video to all of my friends. :P
You (and this video) raise an interesting point. This video appears to be hyperbole, but it still raises an interesting question: does having pain result in gratefulness when the pain is relieved? Put another way, is there a value to pain and inconvenience? The context is the pain caused by our current economic situation. The point is a thought provoking message: pain can be valuable because it produces endurance and strength, so remain optimistic while dealing with the pain.
Thanx a lot for the video. I like ur courage. Keep up the good work.
