Join Me At WordCamp Dallas 2008

I'll be at WordCamp Dallas!Folks, as you can see from the WordCamp logo over in the top right corner, I’ll be attending, and speaking, at the WordCamp Dallas 2008 event being held here in my home town of Frisco, TX on Saturday March 29 and Sunday March 30, 2008. I’ve been working with Charles Stricklin of the WordPress Podcast to organize the event, and it’s going to be a very special weekend full of top blogging talent.

If you live anywhere nearby, or are willing to travel to Dallas, I highly recommend attending this event. But here’s the catch… we are limited to only about 300 attendees, so you really need to get your registration in quickly. It’s only $20 to attend, because we’ve got sponsors helping pick up the major ticket items. So given the fact that the speakers who will be here have tens of thousands of regular readers I want to encourage people to sign up quick – because once the slots are gone, that’s it! I can’t emphasize enough how valuable I found attendance at the WordCamp 2007 event. I made a whole bunch of new friends, like Charles, Lorelle, Matt, Donncha, Lloyd, and many more. And that was in addition to the new tips, tricks and education I received from the fantastic speakers. (By the way, I filmed those speakers, and you can watch the videos here.)

  3. It would be great if I could drive out there, but, we’re functioning on one car right now and I’m not sure if that would work out or not. I told my mom and SIL about it and they are dying for me to make it happen. Too bad it doesn’t fall on the kids’ spring break – close, but, no cigar. I might be able to talk the old man into getting some work out there again – he was just out there last week. His old clients go nuts when they hear he’s coming….”Oh, Mark, I need my bathroom wall fixed….Oh, I need my kitchen floor put in…The dental office needs new this, that, or the other….” I’ll just get to working on him! Ha!

    And I was just telling him the other day about the ‘real value’ of going to conferences – he didn’t get all the hype, so I explained how valuable it really would be to my work online.

    Yeah, I figured I’d shake things up a bit and try to keep everyone on their toes before lunch that first day! My goal will be to share as many tips as I can in as little time as possible. We’ll see how that goes!

  6. Well Lisa, it’s only about a 9 hour drive from Alabama. :-)

    As far as recording is concerned, I’ll have two different camcorders there, plus we may be able to use the recording capabilities at the facility. So one way or another hopefully we’ll capture all of the speakers, including myself.

    But honestly, as great as it is to hear the lectures, there is as much or more value in just meeting all of the other attendees and making friends with other bloggers.

  7. Oh man, I should totally come home for that!! I can’t believe it’s only $20! Why, oh why, did I move – someone remind me again! LOL! Maybe I could get my mom to buy me a plane ticket…hmm…

  9. A bit far for me from the other side of the world, but I am sure we get a great summary with plenty of videos and information here on OMB. And it’s in Dallas where I could see the Mavs and my german neighbor Dirk N. hmmm, better caheck my bank-account.
