Well, it’s been 11 months since my 500th post, and 18 since the inaugural post. Clearly it’s taken me almost twice as long to get the last 500 out as did the first 500. But hopefully everyone feels like my quality has improved.
I would like to once again thank ALL of my loyal readers. I never would have guessed that I’d be getting 15-20,000 page views per day a year ago, or that I’d have thousands of regular readers, but I can tell you that I really appreciate the fact that you all keep coming back.
As I’ve stated before, I’ll continue to give all of my advertising revenues to charity, or return them to the reader community in the form of member contests.
After a year and a half, and 1,000 articles, there is just one favor I’d like to ask of you all. Nothing pleases me more than seeing the subscriber count grow, so if you could help me spread the word to just a couple of friends or co-workers by suggesting they subscribe, I sure would appreciate it. And if you have any suggestions for ways I could improve things around here please don’t be shy about dropping a comment to let me know.
Thanks again!
Kim,
Yesterday’s totals were 18,655 page views from 8,188 readers according to the MyBlogLog stats.

15,000-20,000 page views per day… impressive – what is the approximate visitor count if I may ask ?
Kim:)
How do you get the time to write at least on article a day? Or maybe I should rephrase that…how do you manage to write at least one great article a day.
What did we do with our time before technology!
Great posts, and it’s my first time on this blog, but its’s allready on top of my lists. Even reading from the Netherlands…
Greetings,
Frank
Congrats! I came across your site in the ole’ Google and its been a goldmine. I especially got my clicks worth out of the weak passwords, cutts lecture, and the list of wordpress plugins.
Everyone,
Thanks very much for all the positive comments and words of encouragement! I plan to keep writing for a long time to come, and I hope that I can keep coming up with interesting tidbits as the time goes by.
John
Lisa,
Yes, it’s crazy isn’t it!
As of 4:32pm PST, according to MyBlogLog, there have been 12,889 page views on OMB. At this rate I’d predict that today’s count will be in the 17,000+ range. In addition to the direct traffic from subscribers the site get thousands of visitors daily from search engines, many hundreds (sometimes thousands) from StumbleUpon, referrals from other sites… and this is just a normal day.
On Digg days we are joined by an additional 50,000-100,000 visitors! (Now you see why I’ve had to upgrade the server a couple of times, and why I created the Rapid Access theme.)
Anyway, that’s the scoop! :-)
John
Brandon,
At the very beginning I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with the blog, but I knew I wanted to do something. So I started out posting as many as 2-3 per day. After a while I determined two things:
So after a while I decided that what I wanted to do was try to put out one article each day, unless there was something special going on – then maybe two on some days.
So yes, my personal goal is to write one article each day, and I always post date them so they are released around 1-2am Texas time. Sometimes I’m actually up at 1am still finishing the article for the day, but I try to do whatever it takes to get one out. I figure the least I can do for all you guys is make sure that if you are going to honor me by reading the blog regularly, I should return the favor by actually being reliable. :-)
Thanks for the kind comments,
John
Thanks for a great blog John, leep up the good work and us readers will keep checking in daily :)
I just do not understand how you find the time to research each topic so thourough, do you have any other writers helping you?
Kim:)
That’s very cool you’ve made 1,000 posts! And I think that says a lot that it took longer to get to the second 500 – we all know you put so much into your posts, especially some that you’ve shared with us you spent all day to craft! I will work to tell more people, if that’s possible! I’m always telling people, “Oh, on OneMansBlog, he said….” and “There’s a really cool new car on OneMansBlog, you should check it out…” and “At OneMansBlog today, I learned that….” ad nauseum! Haha!
When I first read this post, I made the mistake of declaring aloud, “FIFTEEN THOUSAND A DAY?? I only get around THIRTY a day!” with my fourteen year old in earshot! Oh man, did he take that ammo and run with it! The little creep! LOL!
Note to self: Keep exclamations to self. ;)
sorry, that ment to be “1,000”
Have you always tried to make a post a day John ?
Since I’ve been here, this seems to be your pattern :)
either way, keep it up :)
Keep going John, you are filling a need out here.
All, the best for the next 1000. your blog is one of my favourite “wasted time”. keep up the amazing work.
cheers
Rhoody
Congratulations. That works out to a pretty high average since that would be about 570 or so days. That’s nearly 2 posts per day!
Haha I’ve become a 1 post per week kind of guy so that is pretty impressive to me.
Congrats John! That’s quite an achievement. Keep it up :)
I would like to echo my congrats as well.
..and I try to mention your blog to everyone I know, unfortunatly, many of them yet to even know what a blog is :-)
100 post, nice work
I think I’m at like 30 post on my blog, but then again, I don’t update it as often as you.
Keep up the good work John!

Woha, congratulations man!
Thanks Nicole. :-)
Just to be clear, I give ALL of the ad money to charity. I do this because I don’t want there to ever be any question about the comments or opinions I post on the blog. No one pays me to say what I say, so if you see a glowing review – they earned it!
Take care,
John
1000 posts! Well done. Keep it up.:)
