There are some people out there LOSING THEIR MIND right now because the new Miss USA is a bikini wearing bombshell named Rima Fakih. And she’s Muslim! (BTW, this post is dedicated to Elie and Jad, who are NEVER going to let me forget that Miss USA is Lebanese!)
Anyone whose been reading my blog for a while knows that I do not like the traditional Muslim garments that cover the women from head to toe. And it’s not because I want to get a look at those ladies. It’s because its a symbol of women as second class citizens.
So I was extremely glad when Rima won America’s top beauty pageant, because the news is nearly impossible to ignore – even in the Muslim world. Hopefully Rima can serve as an example for younger generations of Muslim women who see that you can do anything you want, and who can also finally learn that being a strong, sexy woman doesn’t mean you’re going to get raped walking down the street! (Though who knows, maybe that isn’t the case in other countries. If so, move to the USA!)
Here is a little video interview with Rima to get a sense of what she’s like:
By the way, Rima also enjoys kick-boxing, dancing, and once won a stripper pole-dancing contest! And during the interview portion of the Miss USA pageant, she was asked whether she believed birth control should be covered by health insurance, and she said…
“I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance,†Fakih said.
And Now, the Rima Fakih Photos!
So I can’t wait to hear all the haters tell us why she’s such an outrage. You may now commence…
Rima Fakih is looks gorgeous and sexy She such a beautiful laday
Rima Fakih is a gorgeous lady. Every woman on the Earth should have the right to take her own decision, just like Men. They don’t need anyone’s suggestions on what they should wear and what not!
i take this opportunity to write few words here as a muslim woman in Bahrain. muslim women are strictly adviced to close their faces and full body according to islam but i do not agree eventhough i am a musalman. women of muslim countries must have freedom to wear what they want.
eventhough islam religion ordered us to cover faces, nobody knows what is happening in side of these countries. full of sex, man to man woman to woman man with woman and old men with boys. these are onlyfew .
there are meny prostitutes in these countries even in my country. original saudi women, original bahrainy women kuwait women , u can find at any time you need only money
Ur country where we couldnt find SAREEAH law. If u r a MUSLIM U should folow Holly Quran and Profet.Muhammed. Don’t say like others doing fault., So I have to do Jahiliyath. Ur aim is to go to HEAVEN…. Follow Holly Quran…. U can win ur self and If can advice others to do.
I agree 100% with Khaled & Rana let people do what they want and no need to confiscate others views.

This iz the bloody western policy to make muslims girls feel relaxed after taking off their hijab. Selecting muslim girl as a miss usa or miss universe is a devil,s policy from the thinktanks of western countries. As they know that islam is growing fast in the west too. They jus want to suppress its growing. But that will never happen.Allah is the biggest lord to save us and to counterattack their bloody policies.
Religion is a very private choice for each person. We cannot judge anything about this. All we can do is giving chances to people to do the good things as we also need to be good to others.
Hello everyone,
I’m an Egyptian Muslim and I wear bikinis. In Islam, you have to cover your body when you wear hijab. It’s better to cover it when you’re not also but its not like they’ll torture us if we don’t, no, only in Saudi Arabia, it’s not acceptable to wear open clothes. You have to dress modestly there. But here in Egypt, I dress the way I want. The society traditions doesn’t accept this in some places here not in all places but like I told you, it’s not illegal and they won’t torture me or anything. You’re free.
Rana,
Thanks for sharing that information. I wasn’t aware that it was ever acceptable to choose not to wear a hijab.

Should be Closed ur MAHRAM., it is must for every Muslim.., No any comment or excuse or argument. ISLAM is ISLAM. No ARGUMENT.
“doesn’t mean you’re going to get raped walking down the street! (Though who knows, maybe that isn’t the case in other countries. If so, move to the USA!)”
LOL! What world are you living in? In America, a woman is raped every 2 minutes, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. In 1995, 354,670 women were the victims of a rape or sexual assault. (NationalCrime Victimization Survey. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, 1996.) Over the last two years, more than 787,000 women were the victim of a rape or sexual assault. (National Crime Victimization Survey. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S.Department of Justice, 1996.) The FBI estimates that 72 of every 100,000 females in the United States wereraped last year. (Federal Bureau of Investigation, Uniform Crime Statistics, 1996.)
And this does not even include the stats for the sex crimes that go unreported! And BTW the Muslim clothing is NOT a sign of oppression; being a Muslim woman, I know. I feel really sorry for ignorant people like you. We Muslim girls like to cover ourselves because we don’t WANT to expose our bodies. Why is that so hard for people like you to accept??? If clothing is such a problem for you, then why do you even wear what you do? Why don’t you just go around naked?
And BTW, isn’t it EVERYONE’S right to chose how they dress? Why are you so adamant about not letting us Muslim girls exercise that right??? If we WANT to cover our bodies and our head, what right do you have to tell us to take it off??? So who’s the hypocrite here? Just because you don’t “like” something doesn’t make it wrong.
So how does she needs to call herself then? Why do people need to follow the rules of their religion, and can’t they believe in their own way? Whether you then still can call you a muslim is a good question.., but I do think so.
Definitely i agree with alex, that i know people they call themselves Christians or Muslims but only because they are following there parents religion and their ID.
But actually they don’t know anything about it.
This doesn’t mean that i am against any religious person, but must be honest or else stop pretending and be straight.
This is my personal opinion.
Have a nice day everyone.
Ok guys, she is cool and all that. I don’t have anything against her personally. She is in fact a very beautiful girl. But she Can NOT call her self a muslim! Because according to their holy book, a woman should not be acting like this! I don’t care for it much but it is what it says and you HAVE to follow the holy book to be able to call yourself a muslim. And she is not one, what ever she or her relatives say.. In my opinion people who call their selfs muslim, or christian och whatever else, and do not go by their holy book, Can’t truthfully call them self by their religion.. You’d be a hypocrite if you did.. I know a lot of people whom call their selfs by a religion and don’t even follow the basic “rules”. To me that’s hypocritical. Why even bother to call yourself by any religion if you’re not even going to follow up to it? It’s just stupid. It’s a shame that she has to call her self a muslim just because she comes from that kind of family.
Now only if she wins Miss Universe?
she is too hot to win
Fantastic post. I believe this is a fantastic step for Muslim women, and I sincerely hope that Rima Fakih will help younger girls in the community realize that they too can do this, and that they are strong, beautiful women. I hate that they have to cover themselves from head to toe, as if they should be ashamed of what their bodies look like.
They are not ashamed of their bodies. They are told since they were born that they HAVE to do this because it’s the right thing to do and you honor your god buy doing so… It’s all about the environment they grow up in. And I understand that. This will be in-printed in their brain and they wouldn’t know anything else if they keep hearing and seeing the same kind of words and behavior day in and day out..
