For Sale: The Best 2023 Subaru Outback Touring XT You’ll Ever See
I’m selling my Outback, and it hurts. I bought a new vehicle, I have too many cars, and something has to go. This is the only one I can part with, even though I love it.
This isn’t a normal used Outback. It’s a unicorn, because nobody spends the kind of money I spent on this car. Every modification was researched to death, professionally installed, and paid for by a guy who treats every car like his exotic cars. The vast majority of miles on this are highway, because we drive electrics in town and this was the roadtrip car until I bought a new MDX Type S.

The Basics
- 2023 Subaru Outback Touring XT, Cosmic Blue Pearl
- 2.4L turbocharged boxer (260 hp), Lineartronic CVT, symmetrical AWD
- Original MSRP: $45,273
- Mileage: About 35,000
- Asking: $37,900
The Touring XT is the top trim, so it came loaded: Nappa leather, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, 11.6″ STARLINK screen, Harman Kardon audio, power moonroof, hands-free power liftgate, 180 degree front view camera, blind spot detection, and EyeSight with automatic emergency steering.

Factory options include the trailer hitch, compartment separator, splash guards, door scuff protectors, rear bumper cover, windshield sunshade, and cargo net. I still have the original window sticker.

It Doesn’t Drive Like An Outback
A stock Outback XT is an overpowered soccer mom vehicle. It’s fast in a straight line, then it leans, floats, and hesitates like it’s thinking about its feelings.
Mine drives like a WRX, with a much nicer suspension, a lot more room, and far more capability. The springs are stiffer, the body roll is gone, the steering is tight, the throttle responds when you press it, and the brakes are better than anything Subaru put on it from the factory.
Every install was done by a professional mechanic I paid to do the work right, including a proper alignment afterward. None of it was done in a driveway with YouTube and a prayer.
What I Added
Suspension And Handling
- RalliTEK Lift Overload Spring Kit, $462. Springs about 50% stiffer than stock, with more clearance, no squat, and no wallowing.
- Whiteline 20mm Heavy Duty Adjustable Rear Sway Bar, $215.86. Flat, planted cornering.
- STI Flexible Tower Bar, Front, $235.88. A genuine Subaru STI part that stiffens the front end.
- CKE 24mm Front Sway Bar Bushings (85 Durometer), $32.50. Much firmer than the mushy factory rubber.
- Perrin Steering Dampener Lockdown, $108. Takes the slop out of the steering, so the car goes where you point it the first time.
Drivetrain And Throttle
- CKE Type 2 CVT Mount Insert (Super Soft), $45. Removes the drivetrain slop and throttle hesitation that every Gen 6 XT owner complains about.
- Pedal Commander, $324. Kills the factory pedal lag. Subaru tuned the throttle for fuel economy stickers, and this tunes it for the driver.

Brakes
- R1 Concepts Drilled And Slotted Rotors, Front And Rear, $443.88.
- PowerStop Z23 Evolution Carbon-Fiber Ceramic Pads, Front (Z23-2045), $59.21.
- PowerStop Z23 Evolution Carbon-Fiber Ceramic Pads, Rear (Z23-1808), $39.73. New in April 2026, far better than stock, with almost no miles on them.

Wheels And Tires
- Enkei Wheels, $1,620. They’re about 6 pounds lighter per wheel than stock. That’s 24 pounds of unsprung, rotating weight gone, which you feel in acceleration, braking, and ride quality.
- Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive tires, $1,005.55 mounted and balanced, new in April 2026. I checked the date codes myself, because I’m that guy.

Paint, Glass, And Underbody Protection
- XPEL Paint Protection Film And XPEL Ceramic Window Tint, $2,000 including professional installation by VPRO Tinters in Conroe. The PPF covers the full front end, a partial hood, the mirrors, and even the interior touchscreen.
- The tint is the highest quality film on the market. It includes a clear ceramic film on the windshield, so you get the heat rejection without the ticket.
- RalliTEK Gas Tank Skid Plates, $404.96. The factory “protection” under there is basically a strongly worded suggestion.
- RalliTEK R160 Differential Skid Plate, $179.
- RIVAL 1/4″ Aluminum Front Engine Skid Plate, $299. Real armor under the nose instead of the factory plastic splash tray.
- RIVAL 1/4″ Aluminum Transmission Skid Plate, $209. Picks up where the engine plate ends, so the CVT is covered too.

Interior Protection
- TPE All-Weather Floor Mats, Front And Rear Rows, $162.
- TPE All-Weather Back Seat Protectors And Trunk Liner, $162.
- Genuine Subaru Cargo Sidewall Protector Set (J501SAN260), $74.52.

Engine Bay
- Odyssey Performance AGM Battery (ODP-AGM47 H5 L2), $324. A big step up from the factory battery.
- Redline Tuning Hood QuickLIFT PLUS (21-36012-02), $107.95. No more fishing for the prop rod like it’s 1987.
- Mesh Intercooler Guard, $86.40. Keeps rocks out of the intercooler.
- K&N Washable Air Filter, $54.
- Fumoto Quick Oil Drain Valve, $43.20. Oil changes take a flip of a lever and no tools.

Exterior
- Perrin License Plate Relocation Kit, $84.15. The front plate no longer ruins the front end.

Professional Installation
- Lift springs and Whiteline rear sway bar: $500
- Skid plates and CKE CVT mount insert: $500
- Perrin steering dampener lockdown: $250
- Rotors and pads, all four corners, by Discount Brake & Auto Repair: $500
- Installation total: $1,750
How It’s Been Kept
It has been garage kept its entire life and only ever hand washed. It’s been ceramic coated multiple times. I do every oil change myself, with synthetic oil only.
No kids or pets have ever been in it. There are no smells, and the leather has no fading or damage. It’s been adult owned by an anal-retentive guy who maintained it exactly like his exotic cars. If you’ve been burned buying a “well maintained” used car before, this is the opposite of that.

The Math
- Parts, protection, wheels, and tires: $8,781.79
- Professional installation: $1,750
- Total: $10,531.79
You get every one of those upgrades, plus the hours I spent researching which ones were worth doing.
